Held at the Youngs Siding hall on 19th May 2022, commencing at 6.00pm.

5. COMMITTEE REPORTS:

5.1. Environment

  1. Continue to partner with Green Skills to identify potential wattle busting sites.
  2. Consideration to be given to the control of Watsonia.
  3. Wilson Inlet Catchment committee are looking into the establishment of a native nursery on the Nullaki.
  4. Malcolm reported that consideration is being given to the purchasing of the three blocks near Lake Saide.
5.2. Social, Sport and Fundraising
  1. Festival of Small Halls event was postponed due to COVID concerns, A successful event was held at Torbay on 1 May. Potential for a joint event in the future
  2. Youngs at Heart centennial celebration scheduled for 15th April 2023 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the hall. Working group to be established to organise.
  3. Congratulations to Swamprats on winning the Pigs Arse Shield for the first time since 2016. It was heavily publicised with a full page spread in the local papers.

5.3. Hall, Grounds and Oval Maintenance

  1. Kitchen upgrade was going smoothly until carpenter hit with COVID; stove in place, rangehood about to be installed.
  2. Grant approval received for the inspection and maintenance program 

  3. A workshop was held recently to consider options for the 45K remaining funding for the Rural Town Enhancement Fund. Ideas include:
    • Painting hall exterior
    • Improved heating and floor insulation for the hall for winter use
    • Seating/picnic area connected with the basketball court with interpretive signage
    • Play area and equipment at the oval
    • Entry statement at either end of Station Road including message to slow down for children
  4. Aard advised he had contacted our insurer who confirmed that play equipment is included in our current insurance policy. The insurer provided feedback to be taken into account if equipment is installed.

5.4. Membership and Governance
Meeting Schedule

    It was agreed all general meetings will be held quarterly at 6.00pm and be restricted to 90 minutes. Scheduled dates for 2022 are:
    17 Feb
    19 May
    18 August
    17 November

6. GENERAL BUSINESS

  1. All Wheel Drive Application - Piggot Martin Road
    • An updated application has been received for an all-wheel drive facility on Piggot Martin Rd. This is at the same location as the previous motor cycle facility application around 2008.
